1973

For me there is no year quite as important as 1973. It was a very busy year, some of you might have heard on the news or read in a new paper that the USOS Seaview began deep sea dive testing in the arctic. Whilst somewhere in the South Pacific renowned nuclear physicist Dr. Ambrose Dextor was assassinated. Caused up roar in the UN Security Council when it was claimed that it was a British agent who had killed the famous head of the UN nuclear weapons programme.

It was the same year that the author Sprague de Camp with the help of Owlswich Press Philadelphia publish a copy of Al-Azif also known as the Necronomican. About the same time the Right Reverend John Rogers is forced to resign, which caused a great deal of concern in certain occult circles.

The famous race car driver Tom Kovack has a near death experience which makes front page news papers. What does not make the front pages is that it caused him to develop psychos powers, most notably ESP. He ended up working with Michelle Brent a world renowned parapsychologist. They end up according to Arcanium Society records investigating a mysterious manor house here in England.

Also in 1973 reporter and occult debunker David Norliss goes missing. His editor Sanford T. Evans finds the so called Norliss tapes. Apparently the tapes reveal that David had been investigating a vampire coven are linked to the demon Sargoth.

Then most strange of all on the very eve of the Yom Kipper war, on the day of the European Patent Convention was signed, in the small hours of  Friday 5th of October armchair occultist, warrior of light and future grey wizard Gary Bates was born.

As he was born Libra goddess of Justice and Truth and Logaan Lord of Tricksters stood watch and smiled at what had come to pass for although he did not know it this young explorer of the rum and uncanny would in his own odd way serve them both in the years to come.

High above them on Earths secret moon base the President of the UN was signing Earth up to the Galactic Federation. The rest is as they say is history.

Over the years Gary has had several ambitions the core ones appear here:

1. To see his 30th birthday
2. To marry a Celtic babe who was skilled in arms and magic
3. To have both a boy and girl child
4. To become a teacher
5. To see his 40th birthday
6. To become an author
7. To publish own RPG
8. To build Heritage centre
9. To see his 73rd birthday with mind intact and in reasonable health
10. To see the sunrise and sunset on October 5th, 2073

That is why 1973 is so important to me!
